The Rainy Adventures...

Greetings from Suwon, this blog entry takes us back to last week where Chris actually started working at his school (aka real job). So now we are offcially into the swing of things per say..... Ha is that something people actually say anymore (per say)? I am an 'English Teacher' and I dont even know these things and many others that I have come to find out.
Anyways we are happily enjoying our lives here. We finally got phones so we can communicate. It's amazing how much we rely on phones just to live life really. This past weekend was raining a whole lot so we really didnt do too much. Definitely a good day for the Korean Sauna so we hit it up again. I havent seen a good magic show in a while and this guy at the spa really put on a good show. It's so relaxing seriously we need to have these places in Canada.
This coming weekend (weather permiting) Chris is playing in a outdoor bball tourney. He was picked as an all star so that's pretty sweet. I think I put the website on a previous blog if you want to check it out.
We've been trying alot of new food these days. Things that I didnt even try last time. It's hard to describe exactly what we've had but some of it involves octopus and other kinds of seafood. We've been really blessed in the fact that our Korean friends are helping us out with eating and getting places. Except when Chris went to the wrong bus station and was a bit lost. It was sorta funny but he was late meeting up with some people for dinner. I think getting lost builds a bit of character.....but you can ask Chris about that one. :)
It's funny but everywhere we go lately children are constantly saying hi to us. You'd think we are celebrities or something? I was told that the area we live doesnt have as many foreigners so I guess it's exciting for kids to see 2 really tall foreigners. Also when we are at the park shooting hoops we are often asked to play a pick up game. Usually we end up destroying the other team but it's fun and good to be involved with the locals.
Well I feel like I have run out of things to say. So that's all for now.
Blessings to you all~

And it got Warm!

The weather has been absolutely amazing these days. We are in shorts and t-shirts just loving every minute of it. This week was great in that we had a 3 day work week. I quite appreciated how quickly the weekend came.
We went to Seoul via bus again and enjoyed a Canadian style breakfast at a place called Butterfingers. Seriously amazing the places you can find to eat in Seoul. You can pretty much get any food you are craving.

Chris played 2 bball games this past Saturday and his team won both of them so now they are
3-3. This pic is of him making a 3 pointer! We actually got to go on the American Army base for the past 2 weekends because that's where the games were. It's like a mini American city with all the same laws and rules. We appreciated the western atmosphere and eats.
We also checked out Insadong (touristy spot) and the Independance Memorial on Saturday. It was super busy as usual but so nice to be out and about exploring. It's fun to be bit of a tour guide for Chris since I have seen a lot in Seoul already.
In this pic he is pretending to be 'lost' trying to find the next spot we want to check out. Really though we wanted to capture the mass amounts of people sharing the street with us.
This next picture is from the Independance Park Memorial. Cant remember exactly what is significant about this monument but it's old and interesting. Korea got their independance from Japan in 1948. We hope to visit the War Museum soon and then actually give you more of a history about this date and what not.

Chris gets to start his actual job and contract this Monday as he has been working at my school for the past month. These are a few of the students from my elementary school. They are cute but their level of English is really low so it makes it challenging to teach. I am excited to have some progress thou so will have to wait a few months until I can report on that.
So we have found a church to be apart of. It's called Life Church and is in Suwon where we live. We are excited to meet more people and get connected in this way. The pastor shares a great message and there are some wonderful people here to meet and encourage.
Just a quick story:
So Chris and I were out with my co-teacher and her husband the other night walking thru this park. This Korean man approached Chris and asked to talk with him for a couple minutes.
So they chatted but it ended abruptly because Chris doesnt know who James Cameron is. Apparently this man is a huge fan of this famous movie director who happens to be Canadian.
Anyways the Korean man was obviously offended Chris didnt know James Cameron and that was the end of their conversation. Hmmm maybe it's not that funny writen down, you prolly had to be there. :) Well that's all for today~ blessings.

It's May!

Couldn't seem to think of a better title for this blog entry! We've actually almost been here a month which is crazy to think. This weekend has been swell as it is actually a 4 day weekend. We were in Seoul lots playing ball, hanging out with friends and listening to Loren Cunningham. He's the co-founder of YWAM. Really good message and neat to hear about what is happening with that organization. A lot of well known Christian speakers seem to come to Seoul for conferences and what not, so it's sweet to be in the know and get to partake in these events.
Chris got to meet up with 2 friends from college Sunday and they went to Yeouido Full Gospel Church. The biggest evangelical one in the world. He thought it was bit overwhelming with all the people everywhere. They also visited the most famous palace in Seoul and just loved it.

I on the other hand spent the day with girlfriends catching up and going to our fav places in Gangnam where I used to live. I think it's good for us to spend time apart with friends every once in a while. Sometimes you just need girl/guy time.
Today we hiked around the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon. Took us about 2 hours with a few picture breaks and what not. It's nice how close some touristy things are to our home.

Pretty much just walk to a lot of them. I am super thankful for that because it seems like it takes hours just to get anywhere in this country.. We also live near a huge park that has sweet outdoor exercise equipment, hoops and a nice soft jogging path. I will have to take some pics of it soon and post them. I am trying to get a lot of pics up on facebook but since we still dont have the internet it's hard to in a computer room. So be patient and more pics will come soon.
This Wednesday we start a new semester for teaching the kids. So that means new books and new things that my partner teacher and I will implement. Looking forward to it for sure. Chris is still not at his school he will be there next Monday so he's still coming to my school to help out and learn teaching. It's going better and better each week. The kids I am teaching this year have a lot lower English level than last so it's a bit more of a challenge for sure.
Okay that's all for today hope you are well. Until next time....
